Trey earned his degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina in 2003, an academic foundation that shaped his early interest in leadership, responsibility, and public service. In his current role, he works closely with individuals and families as they prepare for retirement and other long-term financial decisions, drawing on a career that spans both service and advisory leadership.
At an early age, Trey served in various volunteer and civic roles, including volunteer firefighter/EMT, Reserve Sheriff Deputy, and showed interest in serving in the military.
Following the events of 9/11, he was compelled to join the military, where he went on to serve in combat for more than 18 years between active duty and the reserves. As a helicopter pilot, he learned that technical and tactical expertise was paramount. That experience required disciplined preparation, clear communication, and steady decision-making in demanding environments. He remains in the US Army Reserves and now serves as a Civil Affairs officer and strives to complete a successful 20+ year career.
In 2012, Trey began his financial services career in an independent insurance agency, helping families be properly insured to protect their assets. In a desire for an even more in-depth approach to serving clients, he began by opening up a second Edward Jones branch in his hometown and later an independent firm through Ameriprise Financial. His entire journey has included building and managing advisory practices. He felt something was missing from a comprehensive approach, and that was mitigating or avoiding taxation.
After more than 10 years in the making and the new affiliation with &Partners, all the facets needed to help provide the best client experience are in place. Coupled with the structure, accountability, and long-range thinking developed during his military service and a decade of financial services experience, he believes he will continue to influence how he approaches planning conversations today, with an emphasis on clarity, readiness, and thoughtful follow-through over time.
Trey is married and has two teenage children. In his free time, he does whatever his girls tell him to do!
